A Dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

Theme - Don't let your dreams go to waste

Tone - Concerned and Questioning

Allusion - Hoping for a good future

Figurative Language:

simile-like a raisin in the sun, like a sore, like rotten meat, like a syrupy sweet, like a heavy load
metaphor- does it explode

Imagery- (see)raisin in the sun,
(feel)fester like a sore— / And then run
(smell) stink like rotten meat

Interpretation-
Dreams should not be forgotten or be treated like a dropped burdened.
Your dreams are precious but if you let them go they are pointless and has no existence anymore
